REVIEW & REFLECTION
Shared governance is an essential component of the “Fullerton Way”. The preparation for Fullerton Forward: CSUF 2024-2029 Strategic Plan ensured that campus feedback and wisdom were widely sought, systematically analyzed, and thoughtfully synthesized. Throughout spring 2023, from February to April, all members of the CSUF community – students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, and community partners – were invited to take part in a series of REVIEW & REFLECTION activities to share their thoughts regarding the past, the future, and the immediate priorities for the university. This report summarizes the consultative process we undertook, and the collective campus voices generated from the process that serve as the foundation for the Strategic Plan development.
The REVIEW & REFLECTION activities included 12 forums (3 rounds of 4 forums each), monthly “walk-by feedback” sessions (2-3 sessions per month), and individual feedback opportunities (via online forms). These activities attracted 5,100 participants including 2,609 students, and 2,491 faculty and staff (including MPPs). Collectively, they contributed 3,534 comments – 2,586 (73%) of the comments reflect individual responses from students, while 948 (27%) represent both individual and group feedback from faculty and staff. Dedicated feedback sessions were also held for specific groups such as the Graduate Student Advisory Board, the Alumni Association Board of Directors, and the Philanthropic Foundation Board of Governors. The participants mirror the vastly diverse CSUF community, representing all colleges and divisions, and contributed rich data to the discussion on the future of the university.

Overall, 1,167 comments were contributed by Titans when asked to REVIEW what we have accomplished in the past five years – achievements to celebrate, initiatives to continue to pursue, and areas to improve upon.

Overall, 1,102 comments were contributed by Titans when asked to VISION what and where we want to be in the future – what our identity and purposes are, what type of university we want to become, and what dreams and aspirations we want to pursue.

FEEDBACK & FINALIZATION: FALL 2023 shield-check
The broad university community was invited to review and provide feedback on the strategic plan draft throughout Fall 2023. Multiple feedback opportunities were provided, including 7 in-person and online forums, meetings with specific constituency groups (e.g. students, alumni), and anonymous feedback submissions. Over 500 participants engaged in these opportunities, and collectively provided over 100 responses of rich feedback representing individuals or groups. The feedback was analyzed and provided to the Strategic Plan Development Committee, which informed the committee’s revision and finalization of the strategic plan.
STRATEGIC PLAN LAUNCH: SPRING 2024 calendar-check
On February 7, 2024, the university unveiled Fullerton Forward 2024-2029 at a universitywide event, and launched its third Strategic Plan. The launch event was well attended by over 500 faculty, staff, students, community partners, and friends of the Titan communities. At the event, CSUF president Dr. Sylvia A. Alva, and the co-chairs and members of the Strategic Plan Development Committee shared the university’s mission, vision, and values, as well as the specific goals and objectives for the next five years. The celebration concluded with food, giveaways, and photo opportunities with fellow Titans. This event marked the university’s transition from “strategic planning” to “strategic doing” to move Fullerton Forward.
